This page will hopefully offer some assistance to those who have downloaded
one of our template .zip files.
You will need to open the .zip file with unzipping software of some sort.
If you don't have unzipping software, try downloading WinZip
as it has a free evaluation period. Unzip the file to a place where you'll
remember, perhaps into 'My Documents'.
You then need to navigate via your C: >My Documents > Unzipped
Folder ( it won't be called that).
Firstly, open the index.html page to see what it looks like. I would
suggest copying this file now by saving as 'test.html' or something similar,
so that if you make a mess of things, you still have the original there
to start all over again with. I would also suggest you do the same thing
now, before you start for all the pages you think you may require eg.
save as 'about.html', 'links.html', 'contact.html', etc. All of
the graphics for the site will be contained within a seperate 'graphics'
or 'images' folder with the .zip file.
You simply need to replace my text with your own. All buttons will already
have the links set up. Eg. A 'Links' button will have a link to links.html
already in place. So you don't need to bother going throught the HTML
to change the links.
If you need to add some text to the blank buttons or heading (which are
the ONLY buttons/graphics) you're allowed to alter, you will need a image
editing program. I would recommend Jasc
Paint Shop Pro as you can download a free trial version. Alternatively,
we can customise buttons or headings for you.
We are assuming that you have some basic understanding of how web pages
work and HTML. The index.html, index.htm or index.php is always the home
page for any website (the first page you see when you visit an url). You
may benenfit from using a WYSISYG ('what you see is what you get') editor
to edit the text on the templates as required. Most Windows and Netscape
software come with some form of editing HTML eg Microsoft Word.
To edit any of the inline or iframe templates, you will need to edit
in HTML format.
If it all just seems too much or too hard, then why not get us to customise
a template for you. Please visit our Reall
Graphics or Reall
Solutions for more information.
